BIO FOR RECORDING ARTIST MIGHTY MINI
Mark Matthew AKA Mighty Mini> is most definitely an emerging artiste and a force to be reckoned with! What he lacks in stature is over-ridden by his energy, enthusiasm and charisma. Mighty Mini is the ultimate performer with the ability to keep the show rolling.
BACKGROUND > Mighty Mini is of mixed Caribbean heritage (Father from St Kitts and Mother, Barbados) yet was born in the UK. Mighty Mini benefits from a great deal of musical influences in his background and probably has as many notes as platelets in his blood! His Great Grandmother was a pianist and cousins had a band called Eli Matt and the G.I. Brass. This interested Mighty Mini who at the age of 7 was sent to his cousins having begged to play the clarinet, and came back 6 months later a natural on the sax! This inspired his father to send him to a jazz and blues music school and within a year he became the lead saxophonist in a 12 piece band.
THE VOICE!! > Mighty Mini has a unique voice which people just fall in love with’ and a real flair for creating lyrics and melodies. His lyrics fly to the beat… fast, furious and full of flow! He is gifted with the ability to handle tricky phrases at speed. Mighty Mini has always enjoyed singing songs from many different genres churning out a mix of jazz, blues, funk, R&B, hip-hop and reggae. His subject matter is equally varied.
CAREER PROGRESSION> At the age of 8 Mighty Mini started singing, rapping and song writing. His interests expanded to include a little acting, dancing and directing; appearing in plays at the Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich. At a later date Mighty Mini undertook a recognized course to become a ‘Music Instrumental Facilitator,’ proving invaluable in youth work.
In addition to furthering his own career, Mighty Mini has such a passion for music that he has organised and run courses of highly successful music workshops for young people including special needs sounds and vision. It was during these workshops that the lyrics for ‘Got you Back’ emerged,’ a track later produced by 80 Grit Scratch.
ARTISTES, PRODUCERS & SOUND SYSTEMS> Mighty Mini worked extensively with ‘Missile Sound’ and played along side sounds such as Youtman Promotion, Ashanti, 4 x 4 Addis, Saxon Sound, JA sounds including Sugar Minott and Johnny Osbourne.
Mighty Mini has recorded and worked with: Outlaw Candy, YT Dan, Solid Vynal (drum and bass), Irie J, Cyndicut fm, Sarjo, Alberto Jassie, BlackOut, James Hollingsworth, Grantly from Massive Attack, Majah tunder, Grizzly.
Producers include: Will Hodge, Charles Blackwell, King Tings, SKT, Gawd Squad, Daddy Screw of Raspect Music, Mr Quest a jungle producer and Eli-T of Fam Tree Production, responsible for his well loved track ‘Summer Time.’
PREVIOUS PROJECTS> Mighty Mini appeared in a short film ‘The Truth Tells My Story’ directed by rapper and producer Filf and worked with him on a double album portraying the up and downsides of grime music/society. The negative side was explored in ‘Bad Behaviour,’ the best received tracks being ‘Jungle Heaven’ and ‘Don’t Stand in my Path,’ The album featured national grime rappers Giggs and Peps. Conversely the positive album ‘Calm before the Storm’ reflected the happy vibe of ghetto life and included tracks ‘Medicine Woman’ and ‘Wot do I do?’
BAND> ‘24~7 BLESS’ were put together by Mighty Mini and members were as follows: Jimmy Hurt ~ Lead Guitar, Rocky ~ Drums, Gordon Mulrain ~ Bass Guitar, Pops ~ Keyboards and Dave ~ Sax. This was a band comprised of seasoned musicians some of whom will be continuing to support Mighty Mini who is planning gigs with 2 new bands.
VENUES> Mighty Mini has appeared at various locations in the UK including the usual pub appearances in his native town of ‘Ipswich.’ Notable venues include:
Bristol: The Trinity, Malcolm x and Montpellier. Mighty Mini also appeared at both the ‘Bristol Festival’ and ‘Ashton Court Festival.’
London: Many venues including ‘Hootananny’ in Brixton.
CURRENT WORKS> This has been a very productive year for Mighty Mini having recorded the ‘Hard Steppin’ album with TJ Production. Mighty Mini worked with producer Filf and is lead vocalist on 10 of the tracks, collaborating with various artistes including Filf and up and coming Jade Peters. His second album ‘The Fates’ has been produced by Sirius Demand and is again a mixed genre album. Immediate releases are ‘Come on Over’ and ‘Better Off’
Mighty Mini is increasing his live appearances in preparation for his tour and is looking forward to meeting many of his supporters.
