Day-Ja La Dama
A Woman for the People
Day-Ja understands that life puts us through trials and tribulations everyday. She writes her music to uplift the hearts of the people through up-beat music that gets them excited about life’s rewards when you work hard. Day-Ja La Dama is making her mark in Miami by performing all over the city spreading positive vibes, from on-air with 98.3 La Kalle to one of South Florida’s largest venues Café Iguana. Day-Ja remembers her struggles of life from a young age and uses her lyrics and beats to shake the stress away for herself and those around her.
Lobo Jack Production’s Day-Ja La Dama was born Stephanie Campos in Nicaragua on October 6, 1979. Eight months later, Day-Jay’s mother moved to the United States, leaving only her father to raise her. By 1980, Day-Ja had settled in Miami, FL. At the age of eight, she fell in love with the entertainment industry through one of the most influential people in her life, her father. Frequently, her father would bring music from Miami to Nicaragua to perform at his Lobo Jack Night Club. Encouraged by the sights and sounds of Queen Latifah, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez, Madonna and George Michael at age 12, Day-Ja began performing in talent shows and acting in plays. By age 15, she began writing lyrics and started to take a keen interest in current events, the Bible and poetry, further developing her craft. At age 18, the transcendence from Stephanie to Day-Ja began.
As a founder and co-producer of Lobo Jack Productions, Day-Ja constantly seeks and listens to new music and upcoming artists. She respects and supports those who are true to the form of Hip-Hop and R&B. Day-Ja’s lyrical style and musical production demonstrate an understanding of how to connect with the people of today. In appreciation of the music of others, Day-Ja La Dama is producing a mix-tape with international DJs and MCs. Set for a spring 2009 release date, the tape will showcase Day-Ja’s influential muses 50 Cent, Lil’ Wayne, Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Gwen Stefani, Gloria Estephan, Bob Marley, Cold Play, Diddy and illustrate her development as the people’s MC. Day-Ja’s themes run from romance to the hustle of the streets to a motherless childhood and to the political issues our world is facing today.
There is no question in times of play; her lyrical rhymes get people moving. In times of challenge, she encourages others to reflect on living positively. Her influences and knowledge of music show how her style reaches from east to west globally. Day-Ja La Dama, the people’s dama is dedicated to being a constructive influence through sound for the people, as many greats before her.
